B & B Bridal Accessories: A Sustainable Solution

Here at Beauty by Design, we strongly believe in sustainability and sustainable fashion. Which is why we are excited to share with you our bridal accessories brand, B & B! B & B accessories are made with sustainable materials and make for a perfect something old and new!
The Story
In December 2019, Beauty by Design launched it’s very own bridal accessories brand B & B.
Created by Beauty by Design designers, B & B takes the last names of designers Deborah Block and Natalie Barclay for its name sake! The concept of accessories brand was born when Block and Barclay came to terms with the exorbitant amount of scraps from all the custom bridal and alteration projects. Getting rid of the excess fabric was challenging for two reasons, they wanted to find an Eco-friendly, sustainable solution to their problem, and it was difficult for the designers to part with such high quality materials.
The idea of an accessories collection had been on the back of Barclay's mind ever since she was tasked with making her first veil for a Beauty by Design bridal client. Creating that first veil, she immediately fell in love with the new design aspect and wanted to create more! When the opportunity arose to create bridal accessories for her cousin, Barclay proposed combining the two aspects of accessories and sustainability into bridal accessories for her cousin and future clients!
The Sustainability
Our bridal accessories are made out of sustainable materials! What does that mean? We up-cycle bridal lace, silk, tulle, ribbon, and beads from bridal fabric and other materials from Beauty by Design’s custom and alteration projects to make our beautiful bridal accessories! A mixture of vintage and newer bridal fabrics are used in making our products, all of which are in pristine condition.
We also use donated wedding dresses to make our accessories! Do you have an old wedding dress sitting in the back of your closet that you’ve been wanting to get rid of? Contact us to donate and we can give your dress a second life! By taking material from your dress, we can create something beautiful for another bride! From the 1900s to 2000s we will take it!
The Selection
Because of the use of sustainable materials, many of our bridal accessories such as garters and belts are one of a kind! Our veils, on the other hand, are made to orders and styles can be remade upon request!
The Veils
Currently, we have 8 veil styles to choose from on our Etsy shop and we are planning to to add more! All styles (with the exception of the Party Girl Veil), can be ordered in one of three sizes 1 yard, 2 yard, or 3 yards. We also offer a choice of three different colors (again with the exception of the Party Girl), white, off-white, and ivory. Because our veils are made to order, if you are not finding the veil, style, color you desire, message us to custom make the veil that is right for you!
The Garters
B & B garters are made out of 100% recycled materials! We use bits and pieces from past projects to create our beautiful, unique garters! Everything from lace, to silk, to beads is sustainable! Our graters come in sizes XS-XL. Please visit our Etsy shop for further sizing information. If the style of the garter is not in your size, we can make a similar one in the same style. The materials may be slightly different due to the uniqueness of our product, but we will hand select material to closely replicate the desire style.
The Belts
Like the garters, B & B bridal belts are also made from 100% sustainable materials. Our belts are carefully and uniquely designed using an assortment of lace and beads. For that reason our belts are one of a kind and NOT re-orderable. If you see a style you love, snatch it before someone else does!
The Sale
